Original name is Nitrous oxide.It is a safe and effective sedative agent, IT has been used for anaesthesia in dentistry since December 1844, where Horace Wells made the first 12–15 dental operations with the gas in Hartford. Its debut as a generally accepted method of sedation.The first devices used in dentistry to administer the gas, known as Nitrous Oxide inhalers it operated without a scavenger system and flowmeter. Today these simple inhalers replaced by the more modern relative analgesia machine, which is an automated machine designed to deliver a precisely dosed and breath-actuated flow of nitrous oxide mixed with oxygen, for the patient to inhale safely.



Nitrous Oxide It is not intended to put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions the dentist may have. Your dentist will ask you to breathe normally through your nose, and within a few short minutes you should start to feel the effects of the nitrous oxide. You may feel light-headed or a tingling in your arms and legs , Some patients reported feeling od happiness and ephoria. Ultimately, It should make you feel calm and comfortable. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off soon after the mask is removed.
